Waste Fees and Charges
There is a cost for taking general waste to the waste management facilities.
You can pay with all major credit and debit cards and we will give you a tax invoice at the time of payment. We don’t send invoices for waste disposal.
There is no charge for some waste types, such as fridges, freezers, air conditioners.
Waste Levy
The Queensland Government has introduced an $85 per tonne levy on waste going to landfill. The cost of the levy is included into waste collection and disposal charges. This does not increase the cost of resident’s wheelie bins or taking household rubbish to a waste management facility. The levy also does not apply to disposal of green waste and other recyclables.
For businesses, waste disposal charges for certain waste types include a part of the waste levy:
- General waste
- Construction and demolition waste
- Concrete and masonry
- Lightweight materials (polystyrene, insulation material).
The cost of commercial waste collection services also now includes a component of the waste levy.
