It is a legal requirement under Chapter 3 of the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code for food manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors and importers to have a written food recall plan.

Food manufacturers, packers and wholesalers need to provide food labelling.
Food for retail sale or catering purposes is exempt from labelling where the food is:
- not in a package
- in an inner package not designed for individual sale
- made and packaged on the premises it is sold from
- packaged in front of the purchaser
- whole or cut fresh fruit and vegetables in packaging that does not hide the nature or quality (does not include sprouting seeds or similar products)
- delivered packaged and ready to use at the express order of the purchaser
- sold at a fundraising event.

Water treatment fact sheet
Water used for any purpose in food business/premises must be of a drinkable standard. If you intend to use water that is not from council's water supply, you will need to treat/disinfect the water.
Temporary Food Premises

A temporary food premises is most commonly a market stall consisting of a marquee set up with 3 walls and a floor that is used to prepare or handle unpackaged food for retail sale as specific markets and events within the Gympie Region. A temporary food premises does not operate day in, day out from one location.
Council has 2 options for Temporary Food Premises:
Annual Temporary Food Premises – the licensing term is 1 October to 30 September the following year.
Short Term Temporary Food Premises – for one event for a maximum duration of up to 14 consecutive days.
Applications for both Annual and Short-Term Temporary Food Premise Licences must be submitted at least ten (10) business days prior to the date of the activity or event. Applications received within ten (10) business days of the date of the activity or event will incur an urgent application processing fee. Please note application fees are listed on both application forms.
