Barter St Sewer Main Renewal

Project overview
Gympie Regional Council is renewing an aging section of sewer main on Barter Street, Gympie, to improve the reliability of essential wastewater infrastructure and help address ongoing odour issues experienced by residents.

The works will involve removing the existing sewer main and installing a new sewer main along the western side of Barter Street between Cross Street and Channon Street.

Timing and program
Works are planned to start in February 2026 and are expected toby end of March 2026, weather and site conditions permitting.

Funding
This project is funded by Gympie Regional Council.

 

Why are these works happening?

Council’s contractor, Offaly Civil, will carry out the works to replace aging sewer infrastructure and to help address ongoing odour issues that have been experienced by residents in the area. The new sewer main will be installed beneath the footpath along the western side of Barter Street, between Cross Street and Channon Street.

 

How long will construction take?

Construction is scheduled to commence in early February 202 and be finished before end of March 2026, weather and site conditions permitting.

 

 

Will I still be able to access my property?

Yes, residents will still be able to access their properties. If works are being undertaken across driveways, residents will be advised.

 

What are the hours of construction?

Construction will be undertaken between 7am to 5pm weekdays and 7am to 3pm Saturdays. No works will occur on Sundays or public holidays.
