Gympie Regional Council is continuing to improve connectivity in our community with a new footpath linking Cootharaba Road to Wises Road via Rifle Range Road. This project will create a safer, more accessible route for pedestrians, cyclists, and families.

Works will include:
  • Construction of 1200m concrete 1.2m (nominally) wide footpath and associated kerb ramps
  • Minor stormwater drainage
  • Minor earthworks and landscaping
  • Topsoiling and turfing

FAQs:

Will I still be able to access my property?

Residents will still be able to access their properties. Where works are likely to impact access to properties, Council officers will contact the affected residents to discuss alternate arrangements for access and parking.

Will my driveway be impacted?

If the work impacts existing driveways, Council will connect the pathway to them. In cases where driveway reconstruction is required due to pathway grading, Council will contact affected residents to discuss the process.

What are the hours of construction?

Construction will be undertaken between 6am to 6pm weekdays.

I have been advised that the trees on the Council verge outside my property will be removed, what do I need to do?

A small number of trees on the Council verge along the planned footpath will need to be pruned or removed, either because they can’t be avoided or are damaging infrastructure below ground. You will be notified if this is the case outside your property and Council officers will be in reach out to discuss details with you.

Will the removed trees be replaced?

Where suitable, trees will be replaced.
