Other Animals
As per Subordinate Local Law No.2 (Animal Management) 2011,(PDF, 5MB) following are a list of animals and circumstances in which keeping of animal or animals is prohibited.
Poultry, Roosters and Cockerels
There are limitations on the number of poultry, roosters and cockerels allowed on urban and non-urban properties.
An approval is required to keep birds if you have:
- More than 25 birds on an urban property.
- More than 20 poultry on an urban property that is 800m2 or greater.

Pigs
- Keeping pigs is prohibited on an urban property or a property less than 10,000m2 .
- On a property greater than 10,000m2 but less than 20,000m2 , keeping more than 2 pigs is prohibited.
Horses, Mules, donkeys, camels, cattle, sheep, deer, alpacas, llamas and goats
- Keeping horses, mules, donkeys, camels, cattle, sheep, deer, alpacas, llamas and goats is prohibited on a property less than 4,000m2 .
- On an urban property, keeping more than 1 animal from the list of animals in column 1* for every 4,000m2 is prohibited.
Examples for clause 2 – On a 4,000m2 urban property, a person could keep 1 animal in total. On an 8,000m2 urban property, a person could keep 2 animals in total, such as 2 horses or 1 horse and 1 cow.

Geese, ducks, turkeys, pheasants or similar birds
- Keeping geese, ducks, turkeys, pheasants or similar birds is prohibited on an urban property or a property less than 4,000m2.
- On a property greater than 4,000m2 but less than 10,000m2 , keeping more than 12 birds in aggregate of geese, ducks, turkeys, pheasants or similar birds is prohibited.
Peacocks, peahens and guinea fowl
Keeping peacocks, peahens and guinea fowl is prohibited on an urban property or a property less than 4,000m2 .
Ratites (emu's, ostriches and other similar birds)
Keeping ratites (emus, ostriches and other similar birds) is prohibited on an urban property or a property less than 4,000m2 .
