Make a Submission or Comment on an Application

This page explains when and how to lodge a submission on development applications in the Gympie region, and the rules that apply under Queensland’s planning framework—including the Planning Act 2016, Planning Regulation 2017, the Development Assessment Rules (DA Rules), and the Gympie Regional Council Planning Scheme 2013.

Gympie Regional Council values community feedback on proposed developments across the region. If a development application may affect your property or local area, you are encouraged to review the proposal and provide your feedback during the public notification period. Your input helps Council make balanced and informed decisions that support the future of our communities.

Your submission may support or object to the entire application or specific aspects of the proposed development.

What is a 'properly made' submission and how to make one

To secure submitter appeal rights and to ensure your views must be considered, a submission must be “properly made”. A properly made submission must:

  1. Be in writing (including electronic submission) and made to the assessment manager (Gympie Regional Council).
  2. State the name and residential or business address of each submitter, and one postal or electronic address for correspondence.
  3. Be signed by each submitter (e-signature accepted for electronic submissions).
  4. State the grounds of the submission and the facts and circumstances relied on.
  5. Be received during the public notification period stated on the public notice.

After Council has made their decision

A copy of the Decision Notice Package relating to the development application will be available to each submitter.

Anyone who makes a 'properly made' submission on an impact assessment application can appeal against council’s decision on the development application. To lodge an appeal, a notice of appeal form must be completed and lodged with the accompanying fee to the Planning and Environment Court.

  

Please note: As required by the Planning Act 2016, all submissions, including individual details, are published on Gympie Regional Council's Application Tracker and therefore will be accessible to internet search engines. All submissions are published, irrespective of whether or not they are ‘properly made’.
