The Australia Day Awards is your chance to shine the spotlight on the Gympie region’s achievers; people who have enriched our region’s culture, excelled in sport and made positive improvements to our community.
The awards are held on January 26 each year.
Each category awards a resident or group who has made a significant contribution to the community.
The categories are:
Open to all residents in the Gympie region who have made a significant contribution during the year and/or given outstanding service to the local community over a number of years.
2022 Award winners - Suzanne Lohse and Tony Goodman
Open to all residents in the Gympie region (up to the age of 25 years) who have made a significant contribution during the year and/or given outstanding service to the local community over a number of years. No starting age.
2022 Award winner - Hannah Johnston
Open to all residents in the Gympie region who have made a significant contribution to the cultural life of the local community or an outstanding achievement in cultural activity(ies). Open to all ages.
2022 Award winner - Florence Penny
Open to all residents in the Gympie region who have made a significant record of achievement in sport. Open to all ages.
2022 Award winner - Justin Giles
Open to all community groups or organisations who have made a significant contribution during the year and/or given outstanding service to the local community over a number of years, or have staged the most outstanding event.
Community Group 2022 Award winner - Volunteer organisation Gympie Medical Transport
Community Event 2022 Award winner - The Rotary Quilt and Craft Spectacular.
