Welcome to Business in the Gympie Region
The Gympie Region is known as the town that saved Queensland.
The region’s story is steeped in history. From humble beginnings and a deep connection with the Kabi Kabi, Butchulla and Wakka Wakka people, the first owners of the land, to railways and goldfields that quite literally saved Queensland from financial ruin.
Since its establishment in 1867, the Gympie Region has been forged by hard work and resourcefulness - epitomised by the agricultural, timber and manufacturing industries still the backbone of the region’s economy today.
With a land mass of 6,884 square kilometres, the Gympie Region is fast becoming Queensland’s most central and convenient industrial location. It links Brisbane, the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast to the state’s Tropical North, Central and Outback regions.
Improved road and rail transport links offer new opportunities for investment, business development and connection to growing markets. Within the next 5 years, the region is set to attract over $1billon in new road infrastructure and over $3billion in renewable energy projects.
With a wide range of businesses and industry sectors, significant industrial land availability and close proximity to large target markets and distribution channels, balanced alongside an affordable rural and coastal lifestyle, the Gympie Region is poised to transform into one of Queensland’s most significant economic generators.
