Gympie Regional Council - Home page
A message from Mayor Glen Hartwig - Wednesday, 17 August 2022
The Gympie region is so much more than the town centre. We have many townships that span the 6,898 sq. km area that is Gympie Regional Council. Servicing an area of that size is challenging, especially when it comes to communicating effectively with the community.
With that said, I am excited to announce that we will be taking the Council Ordinary meetings on the road. Starting this month, we plan on hosting an Ordinary Meeting in selected townships once every three months, with the first meeting taking place at Goomeri Hall of Memory next Wednesday, 24 August at 9am.
The reason behind this decision is to allow residents in our other townships the opportunity to attend the meetings in person and give them the chance to catch up with myself and the other councillors afterwards.
I am personally looking forward to next week’s meeting in Goomeri as I will not only have the chance to debate the important issues facing the region with the Councillors, but I will also have the opportunity to chat face-to-face with Goomeri residents about the important issues they are facing, including those that have arisen as a result of the flood events that took place earlier this year.
Make sure to support our local racers at the Queensland State Karting Titles C&D Grade this Saturday 24 July from 12pm and Sunday 25 July from 8.30am at the Cooloola Coast Kart Club.
