Arguably one of the biggest and best skate, scooter and BMX parks in Australia, Gympie’s competition-grade youth precinct is attracting visitors from far and wide. The Precinct is a great family space, providing opportunities for all ages and abilities to get involved, or just sit back and enjoy the energy and excitement created by the users.

Key features of the youth precinct and skate park include:

  • Climbing wall
This is an all ages activity which encourages young people to challenge one another, build physical strength and make friends. Bouldering (low level climbing) is set to become a growth sport with Sport Climbing, and the bouldering discipline, appearing as a Tokyo 2020 Olympic event.

  • Pump track
The pump-style elements have been seamlessly integrated as part of the flow and street sections of the park, allowing users to gather speed and ‘pump’ their way around the park.

  • Street section
Incorporating a large street section with stairs, rails, hubbas and ledges, this part of the park will challenge the best skaters and riders and welcome the newest.

  • Skate bowl and flow area
This competition-grade bowl is ideal for events, spectating, skating and riding. The bowl boasts 10ft, 8ft and 6ft sections, an integrated spine and iconic blue oververt cradle. The surrounding flow area provides lines for all skill levels and will allow beginner skaters and riders to develop new skills.

  • Viewing deck and seating areas
A fully refurbished historic Memorial Pool building now provides the ultimate place to look out over the action across the whole park.

  • Landscaped gardens and lawns
Including shade shelters, seating and viewing areas, bike racks and a powered performance space.

  • Accessible toilet facilities and water bubblers

The youth precinct is located in Nelson Reserve, which is a large, shady parkland with a major events stage, BBQs and picnic tables, a playground, and wheelchair-accessible toilet facilities.

There is plenty of on and off-street parking.
