About Wildwatch Gympie

Wildwatch Gympie is an online service that gives everyone in our community the opportunity to share sightings of our region’s most threatened and priority species. There is also a form to record native fauna vehicle strikes. You can use Wildwatch Gympie on your smartphone or tablet, or on a desk-top computer.

By working together to capture data about the location and health of our local wildlife, we can better understand their habitat and threats, as well as better identify priority areas for conservation and rehabilitation efforts.

Using Wildwatch Gympie is EASY!

STEP 1: Take a photo (if you can)

You can use your smartphone's in-built camera; however, we encourage users to download a free camera App called ‘TimeStamp Camera Basic’ which will geostamp your photo and record your location (see FAQ on how to set this up).

STEP 2: Submit a record

When convenient, you can submit a record by answering some questions, uploading your photo, and marking the location on a map. It’s easy to do and takes less than a minute!

See your contribution in real time

You can access a series of dashboards that give a summary of all the data captured about a particular species or group through a series of maps and graphs. The dashboards are best displayed on your desktop computer or tablet in landscape mode.
