What’s on at your local library in May

Back

There’s a full calendar of events happening across Gympie Regional Libraries this May, with something on offer for all ages and interests — from arts and games to gardening, storytelling and thought-provoking literary discussions.

With two marquee events on the calendar — National Simultaneous Storytime and the Sydney Writers’ Festival Live & Local — May is shaping up to be a big month in our libraries. Alongside these national highlights, Gympie Regional Libraries continue to offer a wide range of free programs, creative workshops, makerspaces, access to technology, and spaces to learn, connect or simply unwind. There is something for everyone across the region.

Gympie Regional Council Mayor Glen Hartwig said the range of activities highlights the important role libraries play in building vibrant and connected communities.

“Whether it's reading alongside millions of others across the country or tuning into world-class conversations at the Sydney Writers’ Festival, these events show how libraries connect us to big ideas and each other,” Cr. Hartwig said.

“The return of National Simultaneous Storytime is a fantastic opportunity to engage children and families in the joy of reading and to help inspire a lifelong love of books from an early age.

“There’s something for everyone at your local library this May. Drop in, try something new, and see what’s on offer.

“I’d also like to thank the staff at Gympie Regional Libraries, who put a lot of effort into making our libraries such great places to visit, there’s a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes to bring these programs to life.”
