Energex Asset Renewal Project – temporary car park and lighting changes to Memorial Park

Council wishes to advise that due to Asset Renewal Project works taking place, there will be some temporary impacts to the lighting and parking facilities in and surrounding Memorial Park this month.

Reef Street, River Road and Young Street parking

Energex will be undertaking renewal works on the park lighting within Memorial Park on Wednesday 21 to Thursday 22 May, and again on Wednesday 28 to Thursday 29 May.

During this time, car parking along Reef Street, River Road and Young Street will be unavailable to the public. Drivers are advised to consider alternative parking arrangements prior to travelling.

Traffic management will be in place.

Lighting

The scheduled removal and installation of new poles aim to improve the lighting levels within the park and complement the works currently being undertaken by the Gympie RSL.

To allow for these works to proceed efficiently and safely, the pole lighting will be switched off for approximately a week. Lighting within the Bandstand and street lighting surrounding the park will remain on.

Locals are advised to take care when walking throughout the park.
