Tree Removal Notice – Memorial Park

Back

Gympie Regional Council advises that a large Agathis robusta (Queensland Kauri Pine) located in Memorial Park, adjacent to River Road, has been found to have faults near the base that could affect its stability.

Consultants were engaged to assess the tree, their tests revealed significant decay through the stem and exposed root, leading to the decision that the tree must be removed for safety reasons.

All good timber from the tree will be donated to local woodworking clubs.

Scheduled Removal Date: Friday, 21 June 2024 (Weather permitting)

Replacement: The tree will be replaced with a young tree of the same species.

Community Safety

To ensure the safety of the community during the removal process an exclusion zone within Memorial Park and the footpath and parking spaces adjacent to River Road will be closed.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this necessary work to maintain the safety and beauty of our community spaces.
