Live and Local Returns! An afternoon of live music in Nelson Reserve

Back

Gympie Regional Council is thrilled to announce the return of Live and Local Gympie Region!

Kicking off on Sunday 14 April from 2 pm – 5 pm in Nelson Reserve, Gympie, the first Live and Local for the year will be a celebration of Queensland Youth Week (April 7-13). Winners of the 2023 Gympie Battle of the Bands 'Hugo and the Hive' and 'Trillions' will take the stage, along with special guests 'Wave Raiders' for an afternoon of awesome live music in the park.

Council's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Robert Jennings said Live and Local would be a wonderful opportunity to spend time outside with friends and family while enjoying an afternoon of free live entertainment.

“Live and Local is the kind of event where people can bring a picnic rug or chair and set up on the grass for a relaxing afternoon,” Mr Jennings said.

"There will be a great lineup of performers and we encourage everyone to come down to Nelson Reserve, support our local artists, and enjoy this free community event in the park”.

The first Live and Local event coincides with Queensland Youth Week and will be a celebration of the region's youth. There will be stalls and markets to explore on the day, displaying the ideas and creations of young entrepreneurs. Mark your calendar – this will be a great afternoon of music and community.

The Live and Local program will continue over the coming months and is set to showcase some of the best local and Queensland-based artists to the region. Stay tuned for future dates and artist announcements!
