Gympie Regional Council invites all residents to the 2024 Community Prayer Breakfast in Memorial Park, Gympie, on Friday, 23 February, from 6.30 am.

This event, which is free to attend, offers a heartwarming morning centred on fostering connections, prayer, and enlightenment, complimented by a delightful BBQ breakfast.

The guest speaker for this year’s event is the founder of Grace Community Church and former QLD State Member for Maryborough, Dr. Christopher Foley.

Christopher was the Queensland State Member for Maryborough from 2003-2012, Senior Partner in an Accountancy and Financial Planning Practice, and Senior Pastor at Grace Community Church for more than 20 years. Christopher is also an award-winning artist and Gospel musician and was a presenter for ABC Radio and The Seven Network.

Mayor Glen Hartwig says the Community Prayer Breakfast is about coming together as a community, basking in the serene ambiance of Gympie’s Memorial Park, and giving thanks for what we have as individuals, families, and a region.

“The Community Prayer Breakfast is fast becoming one of the region's major public gatherings and it continues to grow because of the support it receives from the entire community.

I would like to thank Reverend Gary McClintock and The Gympie Wesleyan Methodist Church for once again coordinating this magnificent event. I would also like to thank Dr. Christopher Foley for agreeing to be this year’s guest speaker.

Dr. Foley has such an amazing story, and I am certain that the words of wisdom he imparts will inspire and enlighten those in attendance,” he said.

Meal tickets cost $10.00 per person and can be purchased online or at the event. All tickets include tea, coffee, and a hot breakfast.

All proceeds from this year’s event will be donated to Headspace. Headspace is an organisation that provides early intervention mental health services to 12-25-year-olds.
