Can you please provide a statement from council regarding the recent dog attack?

ANSWER:

Gympie Regional Council can confirm it has received reports of an incident between a dog and a 9 year old child at a Southside address.  As a result of the incident the dog has been euthanised. This matter is pending further investigation.

Last night there was a pretty bad dog attack in Southside where a little boy was seriously injured.

Just after some info on the following, please: What breed was the dog, and how old was it? Does the dog have any history of a like nature? What street did this occur on? Did the dog live nearby? Was it outside the owner's house? Any info on what happened, or the owner's name?

 Has the Gympie Council taken any action to impound the dog?

Is the Gympie Council or officers investigating this incident?

Do Council officers need to receive a complaint about a dog before investigating, or is an attack like this automatically investigated?

Do we know the breed of the dog? And if it was the family dog?

ANSWER:

The dog was a Bull Arab/Brittish bulldog. The dog was microchipped and registered.
