ANSWER:

  1. Works planned at the Gympie Saleyards for the next 6 -12 months?

Four projects are planned for 2020/2021 subject to funding and Council approval.

  • Additional pen rehabilitation work: Installation of additional timber and steel rails and gates.
  • Shed extension: Extend the shed east by approximately 6m, including concrete slab, walls, roof and at least one roller door.
  • Platform extension: Construction of a work platform at the unloading ramp (western end of the yards) to facilitate safe unloading of cattle.
  • Pen flooring restoration: Clean-up of the yards and the installation of gravel surface.

$150K through Queensland Government’s Works 4 Qld Round 4 program.

Two major projects were completed recently at the Gympie Saleyards, both funded by the Queensland Government’s Works 4 Qld program.

$300K Facility Upgrade

This upgrade facilitated the improvement to a number of areas within the facility. Some of the significant components of the upgrade included; the replacement of the outside rails of the selling pens from timber to steel, internal selling pen timber rail replacement, installation of new steel lane gates, new pen gates, new security fencing, new concrete pathways and two new access gates to selling pens, concrete storage area, rubber matting installed in the cattle receiving lanes, roller door repairs and earth works.

$84.7K Lighting Upgrade

Existing light fitting removal, new light fitting replacements and additional lighting of approximately 90 fittings in total.
