Training and support is available from The Resilience Canopy for community representatives and local government staff, leading to impactful community-led resilience plans that have a network of support.

This includes 4 Sessions.  2 x half day online and 2 x full day in person, delivered by experienced resilience building facilitators.

WHAT: Learn to engage and empower communities to adapt, survive, thrive, and lead their own resilient futures. 

This is a comprehensive training program for anyone wanting to support their community on a journey towards a more resilient future. 

Course participants will also receive: 

  • A Training handbook and toolkit 
  • 24 months of coaching and mentoring by experienced community resilience practitioners  
  • 24-month membership to the ‘Canopy Collective’ – our community of practice 

What is The Resilience Canopy Practitioner Training and who is it for? 

Taking the step beyond disaster preparation, The Resilience Canopy a new nationwide movement to build strong and challenge-ready communities, able to adapt to future shocks and stresses.     

The Resilience Canopy connects communities with the skills they need to lead their own future ready plans and to a network of partners who can help deliver on those plans through investment, expertise, or in-kind support.   

Being part of this program is a way to help your at-risk communities to lead and build resilience differently, as has been done successfully in Victoria’s Millgrove, Warburton and other communities.

Support and sponsorship available 

*Long-distance travel support is available! Thanks to the generous support of the RACQ Foundation, if you live more than 1 hour drive from Gympie, you can apply for 2 nights accommodation and travel support to get you to the in-person training at the Gympie Pavilion.  Conditions do apply and spaces are limited, so email us @ training@resiliencecanopy.com.au to find out more. 

We are also offering sponsored training placements to people committed to applying the training with a community within a sponsored Local Government Area (LGA). That means the training and access to the subsequent 24 months of mentoring and coaching through the Canopy Collective is free!  Gympie is one of the sponsored LGAs so be sure to read more on this opportunity or view the full list of sponsored LGAs on the webpage.  

Important Information  

  • You don't need to live or have a chosen community in the area for which the course you want to attend is being held. All are welcome from anywhere to any location.  In fact - cross pollination of ideas and connections between LGAs and States can be very beneficial for all.  
  • More than one person can apply for a sponsored place from within a community group / organisation.    
  • All Registrations / EOIs are obligation free until a booking offer is accepted by both parties.  The second step of this process will include any additional information (sponsorship assessment outcome if applied for, venue details, catering needs), terms and conditions and payments if applicable.
