Old’s Cool - Health Matters (Imbil)
The Old’s Cool Health Matters project will be bringing a series of free pop-up health clinics and community education workshops to Gympie, Tin Can Bay, Imbil & Kilkivan in October, for Senior’s month.
The workshops and clinics bring together academic expertise and student engagement from the University of the Sunshine Coast’s Healthy Ageing Hub (based at its Gympie campus), connections through Gympie Community Place and insights from healthcare professionals from One Bridge. Funding for this project has been provided by Gympie Regional Council.
Each pop-up clinic will provide free health assessments by a registered nurse from One Bridge and health information from UniSC students. Local service providers will also be in attendance to assist in understanding health options, such as how to navigate mainstream health services and My Aged Care. The Kilkivan and Imbil events will also provide community education workshops. Topics may include how to maintain good brain health, dealing with grief, and/or how to stay independent and living at home for longer.
