Gympie Regional Council is inviting local community organisations and creatives to apply for Round Two of its 2025/26 Competitive Community Grants Program, opening Monday, 2 February 2026.

Following endorsement of Round One of the Competitive Grants Program in October 2025, Council still has more than $250,000 available across a range of categories, including community development, facilities, environmental and creative projects, as well as minor and major community events.

Gympie Regional Council Mayor, Glen Hartwig, said local community groups were the lifeblood of the region, and Council’s Community Grants Program played a key role in helping these hardworking, volunteer-run groups bring projects to life that benefited everyone in the community.

“It’s fair to say that without the support of the countless community groups in our region, many of the events, services, and projects that make our region such a great place to live simply wouldn’t happen,” Cr Hartwig said.

“Over the past few years, the Community Grants Program has supported the successful delivery of a wide range of local projects and events, including U3A Gympie Inc’s Seniors Information Extravaganza, Manngoor Dja Aboriginal Health Services’ Well Person’s Health Check Day, and the Fontainea Rostrata Restoration Project delivered by Gympie & District Landcare Group.

“I encourage anyone planning to deliver a project to consider applying and if you need guidance on preparing your application, to register for one of our upcoming Grant Workshops.”

Council’s Community Development Team is hosting a series of Grant Workshops across the Gympie region, where members of the community can pop in to find out more about the grants program and how to apply. Registration required.

  • Goomeri: Goomeri Library, Thursday, 5 February, 1pm – 3pm
  • Gympie: The Pavilion Conference and Reception Centre, Wednesday, 11 February, 4pm – 6pm
  • Tin Can Bay: Cooloola Community Complex, Thursday, 12 February, 10am – 12pm

For those unable to attend a workshop in person, a special online session will be held on Tuesday, 10 February at 11.30am.

Applications for Round 2 of the Community Grant Program close on Sunday, 15 March 2026, with successful applicants to be announced during Council’s April Ordinary Meeting, currently scheduled for Wednesday, 22 April 2026.

Council’s rolling grant round is still open until 30 June 2026 (or until funds are expended) across a range of categories, including Get Local Community Grants, Micro Environment Projects, Creative Capacity & Professional Development (RADF), Flying Fox Roost – Resident Assistance and Micro Biosecurity Projects.
