Canoe and kayak
As part of the Canoe and Kayak Strategy, works are nearing completion on the first round of activities that will enhance recreational opportunities on our waterways and reinforce the Gympie region as an outdoor recreation hub.
Launch points have been created at the Gympie Weir (near Kidd Bridge), Attie Sullivan Park (near Normanby Bridge) and Kandanga Weir (near the old railway station car park). These points will help users access the waterways throughout the region.
There are also plans to construct two additional launch points on Yabba Creek in Imbil. These are scheduled for completion by the end of November 2017.
The Canoe and Kayak Launch Point Project is part of a 10-year program of works to enhance activation of, and improve accessibility to, the Mary River for water-based recreational use.
