Gympie Regional Council is widening a 3km section of Anderleigh Road, starting at Sandy Creek Road and continuing towards Neerdie.

The $2.9 million project, funded through the 2025–26 Country Roads Connect Program, includes clearing vegetation, earthworks, widening the road, upgrading the road surface, resealing, improving property accesses and installing new line marking and signage. Revegetation will also be carried out following construction.

The works will improve road conditions for motorists by upgrading the road from gravel to bitumen and realigning the Antimony Road intersection to improve safety

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I still be able to access my property during construction?

Council will aim to maintain property access where possible. If temporary access changes are required, affected property owners or businesses will be contacted directly.

Will there be traffic delays or changes to traffic conditions?

Where possible, roads will remain open with traffic management in place. Temporary changes, delays, detours or short closures may be required at times for safety or construction reasons. Please follow all traffic control directions and signage when travelling through the work area.

Will construction be noisy or create dust?

Road construction can generate noise and dust, particularly during vegetation clearing, excavation and earthworks. These impacts may vary depending on the type of work being undertaken and the weather. Council will have dust suppression measures in place such as water trucks.

Will trees and vegetation be removed?

Vegetation clearing is required to facilitate the road widening works. This will be undertaken in line with Council and State Government requirements, with advice from a qualified arborist

To offset the tree removal, trees will be planted in the former Antimony Road reserve. Planting will take place following completion of the realigned Antimony Road Intersection and is expected to be completed by mid-2027, ahead of the project’s expected completion by the end of 2027.
