Phil Rogers Park Viewing Platform Reconstruction Works

Gympie Regional Council advises that reconstruction works commence at the Phil Rogers Park viewing platform on Monday, 22 June 2026 following damage caused by Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred. These works are required to restore the structure and address associated erosion and drainage impacts. 

 

What to expect  

Residents and park users may experience the following temporary impacts during the works: 

  • Minor construction noise 

  • Closure of the southern shelter shed within Phil Rogers Park 

  • Temporary use of selected parking bays for contractor loading and unloading activities 

  • Temporary fencing of the bitumen area at the corner of Wide Bay Esplanade and Ocean View Parade to provide contractor and machinery site access. 

Project Timing 

Commencement: Monday, 22 June 2026 

Finish: End of July 2026, with contractors returning in the weeks following completion to undertake additional drainage works within the park. 

Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am – 5:00pm 
No night works are scheduled. 

Safety 

An exclusion zone will be in place around the work area for the safety of the community and construction crews. Please observe all signage and directions while works are in progress.
