Council wishes to advise that, due to ongoing works as part of the Station Road and Mellor Street Intersections Upgrade Project, vehicle access to the car park beside the Gympie Family History Society will close from 6pm, Friday 10 October 2025.
Over recent weeks, we have worked closely with Offaly Civil Engineering in an aim to keep the car park open for as long as possible. However, due to constructability challenges and our safety concerns, it has been mutually agreed that closing the car park is the safest and most practical course forward to allow for the timely completion of these works.
To ensure the safety of all visitors and staff, and to secure the active work site, all access to the History Society will now be via pedestrian entry only from the following points:
- Lady Mary Terrace (bridge access)
- Mary Valley Rattler Station (station access path)
This car park closure is expected to be in place for four weeks, weather and site conditions permitting. Fencing and signage will be in place.
We understand this may cause some inconvenience and we appreciate your understanding as we work to deliver this important project.
We thank Gympie Family History Society and the broader community for their cooperation and support as we work to deliver these upgrades safely and efficiently.
