On display until 26 February 2027, 12:00 AM

Gympie Regional Council has prepared a new planning scheme and a new Local Government Infrastructure Plan (LGIP) for the local government area in accordance with the Planning Act 2016 and Minister’s Guidelines and Rules.

The proposed New Gympie Planning Scheme is intended to replace the current Gympie Regional Council Planning Scheme 2013. It integrates State, regional and local planning matters and will provide a framework for regulating new development throughout the whole of the local government area.

The proposed Gympie Regional Council Local Government Infrastructure Plan (proposed LGIP) is intended to replace the current LGIP. The purpose of the proposed LGIP is to:

  • integrate infrastructure planning with the land use planning identified in the planning scheme
  • provide transparency regarding Council’s intentions for the provision of trunk infrastructure
  • enable Council to estimate the cost of infrastructure provision to assist its long-term financial planning
  • ensure that trunk infrastructure is planned and provided in an efficient and orderly manner
  • provide a basis for the imposition of conditions about infrastructure on development approvals.

The proposed New Gympie Planning Scheme along with the proposed LGIP, extrinsic material, schedule of works model, and review checklist may be inspected and purchased at Council’s offices during business hours, located at:

  • Planning and Development Office, 29 Channon Street, Gympie
