Gympie Region lights up for the 2025 Festive Season

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Gympie Region, with a packed program of festive events bringing a merry and bright end to 2025.
Gympie Regional Council is partnering with community groups and businesses to deck the halls this festive season by hosting and supporting a busy calendar of events to bring the community together.
Gympie Mayor Glen Hartwig said the region could expect all the festive favourites, with a focus on community pride and celebrating everything great about our region.
“Our signature, much-loved Mary Christmas street parties return this year, with all the colour and excitement we’ve come to expect on Wednesday 10 and 17 December from 5pm to 9pm,” Cr Hartwig said.
“Celebrating its 12th anniversary this year, Mary Street will come alive with a range of boutique shopping, artisan stalls, festive eats, family entertainment and trackless train to take over the CBD and bring some cheer to all ages.
“Through our community grants program, we are also supporting several community-driven Christmas and New Year events from Goomeri to Rainbow Beach, Amamoor to Pie Creek, and I congratulate our hardworking residents who give up their time to create opportunities for our community to connect.”
Cr Hartwig encouraged community groups and not-for-profits to get the word out about their exciting events using Council’s channels.
“If you are hosting a community event for Christmas or New Years in the region, I encourage you to submit the details through our What’s On Calendar on our Council website,” he said.
“Our elves will sprinkle their magic and feature your event as part of our ‘Merry and Bright’ campaign, offering a free opportunity to get the word out about your event.
“It’s always a wonderful time to live in Gympie and be a part of this great community, and I encourage residents to get amongst the action and support these celebrations.”
