Cr Warren McEwan Appointed new Gympie Deputy Mayor

Gympie Regional Council has endorsed Division Six Councillor Warren McEwan as the new Deputy Mayor for the next twelve months. 

Mayor Glen Hartwig said that his Council, elected in 2024, had agreed to utilise a process of electing a Deputy Mayor every year.

“This role has been performed by Cr Dolly Jensen for the last two years.  In that time, she has done a great job, representing region with pride.”

Cr Hartwig said that the role of Deputy Mayor was an important position whose focus is on supporting the Mayor while serving the community

“Cr Jensen has been very helpful to myself, the organisation and the community. She can be very proud of her achievements and the efforts she made to uphold the position of Deputy Mayor.

“I would also like to congratulate incoming Deputy Mayor, Councillor McEwan. His hard work in his division and as a Councillor colleague has gained the trust of the Council Chamber - I look forward to working with him over the next 12 months.”
