Community invited to shape playground renewals at Tin Can Bay and Kandanga.

Gympie Regional Council is encouraging the community to help shape the future of two much-loved playgrounds at Crab Creek Park, Tin Can Bay and Clive Colburn Park, Kandanga.

Funded as part of this year’s Budget, both projects will deliver modern, safe and accessible play spaces to meet the needs of local families and visitors.  And that is where local communities can help – by providing feedback on what is needed.

Located along the foreshore, the Crab Creek Playground is a popular destination for locals and visitors alike.

Meanwhile the Clive Colburn playground, in the heart of the Kandanga township and adjacent to the local sporting fields and rugby league club, is heavily used on game and training days.

Gympie Regional Council Mayor Glen Hartwig playgrounds are often the heart of a community making them more than just a place play.

"These are places where children build confidence and friendships, families make memories and communities come together.

“That is what makes investing in playgrounds an investment in the wellbeing and liveability of our region, and why your feedback is important.

“By having a say now, you can help shape the playground designs, and while we may not be able to include every suggestion, your thoughts will help Council understand what matters most to the people who use the parks.”

Surveys for both playgrounds close at 5pm on Thursday, 12 November 2026.The playground renewals are expected to be completed by 30 June 2027.
