Bravo! by Opera Queensland will no longer take to the stage this evening (Tuesday 3 November), with Gympie Regional Council cancelling the free concert following Bureau of Meteorology warnings of possible severe thunderstorms affecting the Gympie Region this afternoon and early evening.
The Bureau of Meteorology has warned of possible damaging winds, large hail and heavy rainfall that could lead to flash flooding across parts of the Wide Bay and Burnett Region.
The cancellation is to ensure that audiences are not on the road if the potential storm activity impacts the Region.
Council apologises for any disappointment and thanks residents for their understanding, with the safety of performers, event staff and attendees the priority.
There are no plans to reschedule the event at this stage.
Council also reminds motorists to drive to the conditions and encourages residents to check disaster.gympie.qld.gov.au for the latest weather warnings and updates.
