Imbil Streetscape Revitalisation

With support from Queensland Hydro, Gympie Regional Council is progressing the Imbil Streetscape Revitalisation, developing a vision for the future of the town.

Building on the 'Our Towns' project undertaken in 2017, Council is partnering with the local community to revitalise Imbil. This will include:

  • Refreshing the Concept Masterplan
  • Capturing Imbil's identity and local aspirations
  • Considering the alignment of the future Rail Trail extension to Amamoor

In August 2024, a collaborative engagement process was launched with the aim to develop a project roadmap, leveraging and enhancing what is working well, whilst addressing local pain points. Through the engagement process, the community had the opportunity to take part in several engagement sessions and workshops as well as contribute to online surveys.

You can read more about the process here(PDF, 1MB).

Following the first phase of engagement a draft Place Positioning Document was developed. This is a high-level road map to guide the future revitalisation of the Imbil township. It identifies the key projects community care about, from large community infrastructure change to the little everyday events and activities that bring vibrancy to our town. The draft document is underpinned by the findings from the first phase of engagement, including both the online survey and discussions from the face-to-face workshop.

View the Draft Positioning Document here.

During the months of March and April, online and face-to-face engagement was facilitated to gather feedback on the draft Place Positioning Document. Thank you to everyone who participated in this process and provided valuable feedback to support the refinement of the final document.

The project team are in the process of reviewing the results from this second phase of engagement which will be used to support the development of a final version of the document.

We look forward to sharing a final version of the Place Positioning Document and the outcomes from the engagement process over the coming months.
