Join us for the official opening of The Magnificent Land of Wonderous Things, with an artist talk by Kym Cunningham, the exhibition’s featured artist.

Based on the Fraser Coast, Kym Cunningham is an award‑winning sculptor known for her imaginative use of recycled and everyday materials, particularly cardboard. Her work transforms humble materials into richly textured, playful forms that invite curiosity, storytelling, and hands‑on engagement. Kym is also the 2025 Avant‑Garde Category winner at the Australian Wearable Art Festival, and this exhibition brings her distinctive practice into the Gallery as an immersive, walk‑through experience.

During the opening, Kym will present a relaxed and conversational artist talk, offering insights into:

  • the ideas behind The Magnificent Land of Wonderous Things
  • her creative process and love of working with cardboard
  • building immersive environments that invite participation
  • the role of play, imagination, and sustainability in her practice

The talk is designed to be accessible and engaging for a broad audience, with time for questions and reflection.
