Gympie Regional Council wishes to advise of a series of night works occurring in the Station Road and Mellor Street area this month due to the Station Road and Mellor Street Signalised Intersections Upgrade project works.
As the project nears completion, it is vital that our crews are able to approach critical resurfacing activities safely and efficiently.
In addition to the standard construction hours (weekdays from 6am to 6pm) and some evenings (between 5pm and 9pm), some night works (between 6pm and 6am) will now be required on the following dates:
- Sunday 7 and Monday 8 December 2025
- Monday 15 to Thursday 18 December 2025
These works will take place on the west side of the rail underpass.
In the event of wet weather, night works will be rescheduled to the next suitable night.
Works
It is crucial that these works are completed at night when traffic volumes are lower to ensure safety and minimise disruption.
- Resurfacing, including profiling and asphalting
- Initial line marking
Parking
- The Gympie Family History Society carpark remains temporarily closed
- Several on-street carpark spots located on Mellor Street and Lady Mary Terrace will be unavailable between 6pm and 6am on Sunday 7 and Monday 8 December 2025 (see image).
Road Closures
There will be alternating closures at the Tozer Street and Chapple Street intersections, with one intersection remaining open at all times to maintain access (see maps). Tozer Lane access will remain available during business hours, with stop-and-go traffic control used as needed.

Local businesses remain open according to their respective business hours during these works.
Council appreciates the community's patience and understanding during this time.
These works are made possible by funding gained through the Australian Government's Black Spot Program, complementary funding received from the Queensland Government's Transport Infrastructure Development Scheme (TIDS) and additional funding from Gympie Regional Council.
