From Monday, 3 August 2026, speed limit changes will be introduced on 40 local roads across the Gympie region. Council crews will progressively update speed limit signage as the changes are rolled out.
The changes follow a review by the Traffic and Road Safety Committee and are based on an engineering assessment that considered current road conditions, surrounding development and how the roads are used.
The updated speed limits will improve consistency across the local road network by aligning identified roads within built-up areas with the standard 50 km/h speed limit, helping to improve safety for motorists, cyclists, pedestrians and other road users.
Motorists are reminded to observe the new speed limit signs from Monday, 3 August 2026 and drive to conditions at all times.
