Demolition of The Fernery – Memorial Park

On Display Indefinitely

Council wishes to advise that demolition works will be taking place at The Fernery, located within Memorial Park, Gympie.

Works are scheduled to commence on Tuesday, 5 August 2025 and will take approximately six weeks to complete, weather permitting.

The Fernery is being removed following damage caused by multiple significant weather events that have impacted both Memorial Park and The Fernery in recent years.

Following demolition, landscape works will begin over the coming weeks that will complement the surrounding parkland.

A temporary fenced works zone will be in place for the duration of the project.
There will be no restrictions to footpath access, including along Young Street above the site.

Initial plumbing works will be carried out to safely disconnect existing water and utility services before demolition begins.

The $100,000 project is funded as part of the Community and Recreational Asset Recovery and Resilience Program, which assists local governments to clean-up and repair following the 2022 floods.

The program is jointly funded by the Queensland and Australian Governments under Category C of the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).
