Mary Valley Rail Corridor Infrastructure Removal – Amamoor to Imbil

On Display Indefinitely

Council formally transferred ownership of the Mary Valley Rattler rail assets to the Mary Valley Rattler Company in 2023. As part of this transition, the Mary Valley Rattler Company retained ownership of the rail infrastructure.

With Council’s support, the Mary Valley Rattler Company is currently working to remove infrastructure along a 16-kilometre stretch of rail corridor between Amamoor and Imbil.

These works commenced in June and are expected to take approximately six weeks, with the remainder completed by the end of the year. These timeframes are subject to weather and site conditions.

Works

  • Removal of rail tracks and timber sleepers
  • Profiling and clearing of the rail corridor
  • Installation of fencing around bridges for public safety

Impact to residents

  • Increased activity and presence of machinery within and around the rail corridor
  • Construction related noise during standard working hours
  • Temporary access limitations near active work zones

Temporary closure of the Rail Corridor

Due to the nature of the works and use of large machinery, the area is currently closed to the public. To maintain safety, this closure will be in place until all works are completed.

We appreciate your patience and understanding during these works. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Gympie Regional Council on 1300 307 800.
