Station Road Widening Project

The Station Road Widening Project is aimed at improving road safety and pedestrian connectivity within Gympie’s CBD.

The project aims to improve Station Road by;

  • Widening the existing road to provide kerb and channel.
  • Improve pedestrian access by providing a 2.4m wide concrete path connecting Cogan Street roundabout to Bent Street.
  • Upgrading the stormwater drainage.
  • A complete reseal of Station Road

This project was developed with the support of the Queensland Government’s Transport Infrastructure Development Scheme in association with Gympie Regional Council.

Timelines

Station Road Widening Project is scheduled to commence first week of January and is expected to be completed mid 2024, weather permitting.

Upcoming Road Closure Notice

13 April & 20 April 2024

From 6.30am to 6pm a complete closure will take place on Station Road to allow for stormwater and drainage works. Detours will be in place. Traffic control will be onsite to manage local traffic.

Station Road is a popular route for residents and visitors to our region, to try and reduce impact on the local businesses and residents in the area council will be keeping the road partially open.

During construction, traffic management will be in place including a detour for westbound (uphill) traffic. The detour will be via Cogan St, Tozer Park Rd, Tozer St.

  • Works will be conducted between 6am – 6pm Monday to Friday. Please note, towards the end of the project night works will need to occur to complete the road reseal.

  • During construction property access may be impacted, where issues are unavoidable crews will discuss with property owners prior.

  • You may experience construction noises; however, minimal disturbance is expected.

  • No, this project is to widen Station Road and improve pedestrian connectivity. The upgrades to those intersections will follow the upgrade.
