Spring is here and if you’re like me you’re chomping at the bit to get outside and get amongst the action. Whether its getting into your garden, meeting up with friends, or seeing a live show, you can do all of that and more this September in the Gympie region.

One community event that is taking place is the Valley Bees Open Day at the Pavilion, this Saturday from 9am. If you have ever wanted to try your hand at beekeeping but don’t know where to start, this event gives you the chance to watch demonstrations, ask questions and network with others in the community.

If you can’t make it to the open day, the Valley Bees run information sessions and demonstrations at Landcare on the first Saturday of each month, and at Honey Bee Resort Kandanga on the third Saturday of the month.

Council’s arts and culture program RESET Gympie kicked off last month, and September’s line up of events has something for everyone.

On Saturday, 4 September from 6pm, Creative Arts Gympie region is opening their new creative space and gallery at 39 Monkland Street. This free event is a great opportunity to get together and celebrate an exciting new space dedicated to creatives in the Gympie region.

There are two great shows taking place at the Pavilion during RESET Gympie.
The lads from OKA will be performing on Friday, 10 September from 7pm to 9.30pm. This show combines an exciting blend of music that draws upon their indigenous connection to place and country to create their signature Australian earth sound.

On Saturday, 25 September from 7.30pm, Briefs Factory International will be presenting their amazing show Dirty Laundry. If you’re looking for a fun night of disco dancing, a little bit of circus and great comedy, this one is for you.

Finally, Story Vessels - ‘Boundaries’ Lines - Between - Apart will be on display at the Gympie Regional Gallery from Thursday, 9 September to Saturday, 2 October. This amazing exhibition explores the concept of how society’s perception of ‘boundaries’ has shifted since COVID-19.
