Grave Tales - Bruce Highway
In cemeteries throughout Australia, gravestones hint at our history – tales of early settlement, unsolved murders, love lost, scandal and sacrifice. Join the authors Helen Goltz and Chris Adams to hear more about the ordinary people caught up in extraordinary events.
This term we are trying a slightly different format for our Robotics and Coding sessions.
On Mondays, we will be holding a Scratch Coding session, limited to 12 participants. The session will run for the rest of the term and will focus on block coding skills. The students will work in teams of two to design and develop their very own video game.
On Tuesdays, we will run a Lego Mindstorms EV3 session, also limited to 12 participants. Again, in teams of two, participants will design and construct a Mindstorm EV3 robot, develop basic programming for movement and sensing and develop important troubleshooting skills. At the end of the term, students will be able to use their robots to complete a series of challenging tasks. In order to make the group selections as fair as possible, we will be selecting names “lucky dip” style. If you are interested in one or both of the activities, please email your child/children’s names to Curtis at firstname.lastname@example.org and indicate a preferred session (either Monday or Tuesday).
For those who miss out this term, we will run the same sessions next term with 12 new participants in each session. We have also decided to add a third session during the week on Thursdays. These sessions are open to all but will be more focused on younger participants, with Ozobots, Cubetto, Spheros, Little Bits and BeeBots. All three weekly sessions will run from 3:15 – 4:45pm.
