Destination Gympie Region
Destination Gympie Region is the tourism and destination services branch of Gympie Regional Council. It is recognized by Tourism and Events Queensland as the Local Tourism Organisation for the Gympie Region.
Established at the start of 2013, Destination Gympie Region forms part of Council's vision to promote the Gympie Region as the ideal place to live, work and play.
It's strategic focus is to contribute to the health and vitality of the region by promoting greater levels of visitation and - as a result - generating positive direct and indirect economic social outcomes for the community.
Discover, play, taste and stay - today it's about inviting people to come and experience the Gympie Region and all it has to offer. Future plans will build on this by targeting new residents and businesses, and positioning the region as the ideal place to also live and invest.
The Gympie region is one of Queensland's great lifestyles. It's located just over two hours drive north of Brisbane and 40 minutes from Noosa Heads, and has a population of more than 50,000 residents.
The region includes coastal communities such as Rainbow Beach, Tin Can Bay, Cooloola Cove as well as the vibrant hinterland of the Mary Valley and access to stunning national parks and World Heritage-listed Fraser Island. It also features quaint country towns, such as Kilkivan and Goomeri, and the centrally-located urban precinct of Gympie city, the commercial hub.
