Backflow Prevention Device Inspection Program

Council would like to notify residents in the Gympie region of a system systematic inspection program (pursuant to Section 134 of the Local Government Act 2009) for the purpose of authorising Plumbing Inspectors from Gympie Regional Council to enter properties/premises as required between 7 June 2018 and 30 August 2018.

This inspection program notes that Council will:

  1. Approve a systematic inspection program (encompassing three zones) pursuant to Section 134 of the Local Government Act 2009 for the purpose of authorising Plumbing Inspectors from Gympie Regional Council to enter properties/premises in the areas as indicated on the maps that appear in this report;
  2. Determine that the purpose of the inspection program is to allow Council Plumbing Inspectors to enter premises to inspect backflow prevention devices and to assess compliance in accordance with the requirements of the Plumbing and Drainage Act 2002 namely:
  3. To collate and verify backflow prevention device data against the existing Council backflow register; and
  4. To audit and identify risks associated with potential contamination of the drinking water supply to ensure compliance with the Plumbing and Drainage Act 2002.

 

  1. Confirm that the period for each of the systematic inspection programs is to be for a maximum three (3) month period namely;

 

  1. Zone 1: Start date 7 June 2018 to 30 August 2018;

 

As per Zone Map 1 in the body of the report, Gympie area incorporating the following Planning Scheme Zones: District Centre, Specialised Centre, Sport and Recreation, Low Impact Industry, Medium Impact Industry, High Impact Industry, applicable Residential Zones.

 

  1. Zone 2: Start Date 3 September 2018 to 23 November 2018;

 

As per Zone Map 2 in the body of the report, the Dawn, Glanmire, Kybong, Woondum, Tandur, Tin Can Bay, Cooloola Cove, Rainbow Beach area incorporating the following Planning Scheme Zones: District Centre, Specialised Centre, Sport and Recreation, Low Impact Industry, Medium Impact Industry, High Impact Industry, applicable Residential Zones.

 

  1. Zone 3: Start date 19 November 2018 to 8 February 2019;

 

As per Zone Map 3 in the body of the report, Goomeri, Kilkivan, Widgee, Gunalda, Dagun, Amamoor, Kandanga, Imbil, Brooloo, Borumba, Neerdie, Wolvi areas incorporating the following Planning Scheme Zones: District Centre, Specialised Centre, Sport and Recreation, Low Impact Industry, Medium Impact Industry, High Impact Industry, applicable Residential Zones. 

 

  1. Confirm that commercial properties and multi residential unit developments incorporating a Body Corporate within the Zone Map areas are to be entered and inspected.
