The "Our Towns - Sustainable Centres Program" aims to assist in ensuring the ongoing sustainability of the region's rural townships as attractive and desirable places to live, work, recreate and visit.
One of the main objectives of the program is to deliver streetscape and public realm improvements that build on the existing character and amenity of the township, and identify cost-effective strategies to strengthen and enhance its sense of place and unique identity.
This place-making process has involved consultation with local and key stakeholders so that local knowledge and culture has been considered in the process, and key recommendations meet realistic community expectations.
Implementation of the "Our Towns" program is progressive and staged, starting with an initial first round implementation activity in each township, that aligns with the community's priorities and maximises potential economic and community benefits.
