Media release: Have your say on Memorial Park Conservation Management Plan

12 July 2018

Council wants your feedback on the ongoing preservation and use of Memorial Park.

Memorial Park, located in the Gympie Town Centre, is recognised at the State level for its heritage value and currently holds a place on the Queensland Heritage Register. In order to protect this important community and cultural asset, its ongoing management needs to be carefully considered.

To ensure the park grounds, structures and natural assets are maintained in accordance with community needs, Council is preparing a Conservation Management Plan to guide the maintenance and preservation of all aspects of the park.

The Memorial Park Conservation Management Plan considers the park’s cultural heritage significance; as well as practical maintenance of assets such as parking, children’s play equipment, the bandstand and fernery facilities and established trees.

The full plan can be viewed online. All community members are welcome to give their feedback online between Thursday 12 July and Sunday 5 August 2018.

Council staff will also be gathering community feedback at the Winter Trees on Mary street event on Wednesday 18 July from 5pm.

Alternatively, you may give feedback in writing to:
