Council to celebrate the region’s volunteers
Gympie Regional Council, Tony Perrett MP, Member for Gympie, and the Gympie Region Volunteer Centre are proud to host the Annual Celebration of Volunteering on Wednesday 3 May.
This event is a fun-filled morning tea which features guest speakers, pamper stations, activities and great musical entertainment by local artists to celebrate volunteers from across the Gympie region.
“This event is a wonderful opportunity to recognise the dedication and hard work of countless volunteers that contribute to making our region the natural choice to live, work and play,” said Gympie Regional Council’s Mayor, Mick Curran.
“I strongly encourage everyone to come along and for volunteer-based organisations, it’s an ideal opportunity to book a table to give your hard working volunteers a much deserved morning out,” he said.
The event is running as part of National Volunteer Week with the theme of Give Happy, Live Happy, as research shows that volunteers live happier and healthier lives.
The event is free and will be held on Wednesday 3 May from 10am – 12 noon at The Pavilion, Gympie. Bookings are essential for catering purposes. To reserve your place or book a table, visit www.gympie.qld.gov.au/national-volunteer-week and click on the ‘reserve your place’ link or contact Council’s Community Development Team directly on 1300 307 800.
