Paddock to Plate – Gympie Council Region Hosts Key Food Forum

This week Gympie Regional Council’s Economic Development Business Unit will host a key food forum focussing on the importance of the food story.

This Food and Agribusiness Related Enterprises (FARE) Forum is the second in a yearlong program initiated and developed by Gympie Regional Council aimed at growing our food and agribusiness sector.

The FARE Forum will include a panel discussion featuring Gympie Regional Food and Tourism Ambassador Matt Golinski who will provide interesting insight into how he believes producers and food businesses can work together.

This week’s event panel will also feature local business owners and Colin Graham, founder of Causeway Innovation, a business that is focused on developing innovative businesses and regions. Colin will identify current food trends and discuss how to take advantage of these trends with innovation to stay ahead of the pack.

Gympie Region businesses in the food and beverage, horticulture, agriculture, agri-tourism and tourism industries are invited to an event designed to inspire and support them to innovate and take advantage of current trends.

Mayor Mick Curran said “Now more than ever, consumers are seeking experiences and interaction.”

“They want to connect with the people running the businesses that grow and sell the products they purchase. They want to know the story of where their food comes from” He said.

The FAREforum will be held on Thursday 2 March 2017, from 3pm to 6pm, at 93 Main Street Kandanga. There is no cost to attend however, RSVP’s are required by Tuesday 28 February for catering purposes to economicdevelopment@gympie.qld.gov.au or phone 1300 307 800.

The Forum is an excellent networking opportunity and is being hosted with Kandanga Farm Shop in the beautiful Mary Valley. Attendees will also enjoy refreshments featuring locally sourced produce.

Businesses in the food and beverage, horticulture, agriculture, agri-tourism and tourism industries are encouraged to attend.
