Kilkivan Equestrian Centre

Kilkivan is home to The Great Horse Ride and the primary purpose of this project is to generate employment and stimulate Kilkivan’s economy by having a modern equestrian facility to attract out of town and, and support local competitors in a variety of equestrian disciplines.

The total allocated funds for the project are $2,036,000 with $1,075,089 coming from the Local Government Grants and Subsidies Program.

The planned development includes an 80m x 45m undercover arena and a raised undercover spectator viewing area as well as a review of electricity, water and sewerage to site.

On Wednesday, January 23 2019, Council endorsed Ri Con Constructions as the successful tender to complete the project. Ri Con Constructions were previously engaged by Council to build the Curra Hall. The Equestrian Centre is scheduled to be opened to coincide with The Great Horse Ride in September 2019 (weather permitting).

During the design process council staff have engaged with a range of stakeholders with the aim of capturing detailed information on how this centre should look and function.
