Mayor's Column - Wednesday, 17 January 2018 Mayor's Column - Wednesday, 17 January 2018

With the Christmas and New Year break now well and truly over for most of us, I can only hope the majority had a restful break, catching up with family and friends.

Some of our new facilities have literally been swamped with over 17,000 attendances at the Aquatic Centre in December and River to Rail trail along the Mary river having a full carpark on many occasions, and of course our coast has hosted great crowds with fantastic feedback from our tourism operators. These have been great projects for our region.

As we now look to the future, I am very excited about 2018, which will see the completion of the Rattler, a major tourism attraction for this region as well as the rolling out of many other projects aimed at improving the liveability of the region and supporting the economy.

Like every other council in Australia we cannot meet all the requests of the community and need to prioritise services and projects but I am excited about this region's future and I look forward to continuing to work with Council, our community groups and our residents who continue to positively promote our wonderful region and who actively contribute to making our community such a great place to live.

Cr. Mick Curran, Mayor
