Gympie Sesquicentenary (G150)
This year Gympie is marking its 150th anniversary since the discovery of gold by James Nash.
Originally discovered in October 1867, this particular month is also widely recognised as the founding date of the Gympie Township.
During this year-long salute, the Gympie region will be hosting a variety of community festivals, events and concerts, exciting exhibitions and activities that explore our community’s rich heritage and celebrate the evolution of our great region!
G150 Gala Dinner
Council would like to invite you to a G150 Gala Black Tie event to celebrate 150 years of Gympie's history.
A formal dinner will be held on Friday, 20 October to celebrate James Nash and his discovery of gold in the creek where the gas works stood in Mellor Street, in 1867.
The G150 Gala dinner promises to be Gympie's social event of the year, showcasing our amazing local produce and featuring classic big band entertainment.
The evening will include:
- Drinks on arrival (sourced from local wineries)
- Welcome to Country - Leaf Bennet from Natural Talents
- Fine dining menu by Chef Matt Golinski, Gympie Region Food and Tourism Ambassador
- Entertainment by Radio Club Band
When: Friday, 20 October
Where: Gympie Civic Centre, Mellor Street, Gympie
Time: 6.30pm for a 7pm start
Dress: Black Tie (a 'Touch of Gold' is the theme)
