Curra State Forest Shooting Facility Feasibility Study and Options Analysis

Gympie Regional Council recently confirmed its commitment to supporting the region's shooters, by receiving a Feasibility Study and Options Analysis for establishing a consolidated shooting facility.

The establishment of a consolidated shooting facility with the Curra State Forest north of Gympie has been a consideration for a number of years and following a letter of in-principle support from the former Minister for National Parks, Recreation, Sport and Racing in 2014, Council resolved to undertake a feasibility study and options analysis within the 2014-15 financial year.

A draft study and options analysis was presented to Council after extensive engagement with key stakeholders. The draft study and options analysis was put out for public consultation from mid December, 2014 until late January 2015, to seek feedback from the wider community about the matter.

Following this period and carefully considering any feedback, necessary amendments were incorporated into the final Feasibility Study and Options Analysis received by Council at the Ordinary Meeting held 1 April 2015.

Council are now in the process of undertaking the necessary work to secure a suitable lease over the State owned site.
