Arts and Cultural Plan 2015-2025

Arts and Cultural Plan 2015-2025 guides the approach to cultural investment and activity for the Gympie region.

The key objectives of the Arts and Cultural Plan are to:

  • recognise the vital role arts and culture play in the wellbeing, prosperity and distinctiveness of the region
  • provide space and opportunity for people to express themselves creatively, come together and share experiences as a community
  • celebrate and protect a rich history that continues to inform and shape our futures
  • support local careers and skill development in the creative industries
  • harness the location, environment and cultural assets of the region to attract visitors and investment
  • enhance liveability, lifestyle and well-being for residents
  • effect a culture shift within Council which acknowledges and considers cultural outcomes across each business area.

*** Council conducted a review of the Arts and Cultural Plan in 2020. Click here to download a copy of the Arts and Cultural Plan 2015-2025 Review – Summary and Action Plan. The findings of the review and the feedback from participants at the Arts and Culture Forum held on 20 February 2020 will inform the framework for the new Arts and Culture Strategy.

Arts and Culture Forums

The Gympie region is home to a thriving arts and cultural sector immersed in creativity and innovation, from music and literature to visual and performing arts. The diverse cultural heritage and rich indigenous history of the region plays a key role in the values, self-expression and the unique identity of our community and its people.

The Arts and Culture Forums bring together our community and cultural champions, our future leaders and Council representatives to connect, communicate, and collaborate to determine the opportunities and actions that will support and grow the creative industries in the Gympie region.
